Privacy Policy

VOQAS("we," "our," or "us") provides the VOQAS iOS application ("the App") — an AI-powered English speaking coach that uses real-time voice conversations for language practice. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the App. By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

For users in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, VOQAS is the data controller responsible for your personal data.

2. Key Points at a Glance

  • — The App uses ElevenLabs Conversational AI for real-time voice processing. Your microphone audio is streamed live and deleted immediately after each session ends.
  • — Conversation transcripts and session metadata are sent to Firebase Cloud Functions (Google Cloud) for feedback generation and stored locally on your device via SwiftData.
  • — Purchases and subscriptions are managed by RevenueCat. We do not receive or store your credit card details — Apple handles all payments.
  • We do not track you.No third-party advertising SDKs, no analytics SDKs, no cross-app tracking. We do not show Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt because there is nothing to track.
  • We do not sell your data. We do not share personal data with data brokers or advertisers.

3. Information We Collect

3.1 Information You Provide to Us

Audio Data

When you start a speaking session, your microphone input is streamed in real time to ElevenLabs Conversational AI for speech-to-text and text-to-speech processing. Audio data is processed live during the session and is permanently deleted immediately after the session ends. We never store, replay, transcribe for secondary purposes, or share your voice recordings with any party other than ElevenLabs for the sole purpose of real-time conversation processing.

User Content (Transcripts)

The App generates conversation transcripts as part of the speaking practice experience. These transcripts, along with session metadata (scenario type, CEFR level, session duration), are your "User Content." They are sent to Firebase Cloud Functions (Google Cloud) for analysis, feedback generation, and progress tracking. A copy is stored locally on your device using Apple SwiftData. You may delete your transcript history at any time from within the App's settings.

Support Communications

When you contact us via email (support@hiretech.agency), we collect your email address, the content of your message, and any files or screenshots you voluntarily attach. We use this information solely to respond to your inquiry and improve our support.

3.2 Information Collected Automatically

Usage and Diagnostics

We collect minimal, anonymous diagnostic data to ensure the App functions reliably. This includes: feature interaction events (e.g., session started, scenario selected), crash reports, error logs, and basic performance metrics. This data is not tied to your identity and is used exclusively for debugging and improving the App's stability.

Device and Technical Information

When the App communicates with our backend services, we may process: device model, iOS version, app version, language setting, time zone, network connection type, and IP address. This information is collected for security monitoring, troubleshooting, and compatibility purposes. We do not access or collect your precise GPS location.

3.3 Payment and Subscription Information

All payments, subscriptions, and billing are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not collect, receive, or store your credit card number, billing address, or Apple ID password. Purchase state and subscription status are managed by RevenueCat, which provides us with an anonymous user identifier and your current subscription status (active, expired, plan type, renewal date). We use this solely to enable the features associated with your plan.

3.4 Information We Do NOT Collect

  • — We do not collect your name, phone number, physical address, or date of birth.
  • — We do not access your photo library, contacts, calendar, or other apps on your device.
  • — We do not collect precise geolocation data (GPS).
  • — We do not use any third-party analytics services (no Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics, Mixpanel, Amplitude, or similar).
  • — We do not use any third-party advertising networks or ad SDKs.

4. How We Use Your Information

4.1 To Provide Core Features

  • — Stream audio to ElevenLabs for real-time speech processing and AI voice response generation.
  • — Send transcripts and session metadata to Firebase Cloud Functions to generate personalized fluency, grammar, vocabulary, and communication feedback.
  • — Store transcript and feedback history locally on your device via SwiftData for your review.
  • — Display and manage your subscription status and plan entitlements via RevenueCat.

4.2 To Maintain and Improve the App

  • — Monitor app performance, detect and fix bugs, and diagnose crashes.
  • — Analyze aggregated, anonymized usage patterns to improve the coaching experience and scenario design.
  • — Ensure compatibility with new iOS versions and device models.

4.3 To Protect the App and Users

  • — Detect, prevent, and respond to fraud, abuse, security incidents, and violations of our Terms of Service.
  • — Enforce usage limits associated with subscription plans.

4.4 To Communicate with You

  • — Respond to your support requests, questions, and data rights inquiries.
  • — Send service-related notices (e.g., policy updates, outage alerts) where permitted by applicable law.

5. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell personal information. We do not share personal data with advertisers, data brokers, or any third party for their own marketing purposes.

5.1 Service Providers (Sub-processors)

We engage the following third-party services to operate the App. Each processes data under its own privacy policy and data processing terms, and each is contractually bound to use your data only as instructed by us:

5.2 Legal and Safety Disclosures

We may disclose your information if we believe in good faith that such disclosure is necessary to: (a) comply with applicable law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request; (b) protect the safety, rights, or property of our users, the public, or ourselves; (c) detect, prevent, or address fraud, security, or technical issues; or (d) enforce our Terms of Service.

5.3 Business Transfers

In the event of a merger, acquisition, reorganization, financing, or sale of all or a portion of our assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you via the App or email before your data becomes subject to a different privacy policy, where required by applicable law.

6. AI Processing and User Content

6.1 How AI Processes Your Data

  • ElevenLabs Conversational AI: Receives your real-time audio stream, converts speech to text, generates AI voice responses, and converts them back to speech. Audio is not stored or retained by ElevenLabs after the session.
  • Firebase Cloud Functions: Receives session transcripts and metadata to generate personalized fluency, grammar, vocabulary, and communication scores. Transcripts are retained for 30 days on Firebase servers and then automatically deleted.

6.2 No Model Training on Your Data

We do not use your voice recordings, transcripts, or any User Content to train, fine-tune, or improve third-party AI models (including ElevenLabs' models). Your data is processed solely to deliver your speaking practice sessions and feedback. It is not used for any machine learning training purposes.

6.3 AI Output Disclaimer

AI-generated responses and feedback scores are produced automatically and may occasionally be inaccurate, incomplete, or nonsensical. You should use your own judgment when interpreting AI output. Feedback scores are automated estimates and should not be treated as official language proficiency certifications.

7. Data Retention

  • Audio data: Deleted immediately after each session ends. Never stored on our servers.
  • Transcripts and session metadata (server-side): Retained on Firebase for 30 days from the date of the session, then automatically deleted. This retention period allows you to review recent session history and feedback across devices.
  • Transcripts and session metadata (local): Stored on your device via SwiftData until you manually delete it in the App or uninstall the App.
  • Subscription data (RevenueCat): Retained while your subscription is active and for a limited period thereafter as required for accounting, fraud prevention, and dispute resolution.
  • Diagnostics and logs: Retained for up to 90 days, then permanently deleted.
  • Support communications: Retained for up to 2 years after your last correspondence for reference continuity, then deleted.

Upon your request for data deletion (see Section 9), we will delete or de-identify your personal data within 30 days, subject to any legal obligations that require us to retain certain information (e.g., for fraud prevention, security, or legal compliance).

8. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to safeguard your data:

  • — All data transmission between the App and our service providers is encrypted in transit using TLS (Transport Layer Security).
  • — Firebase (Google Cloud) infrastructure maintains industry standard security certifications, including ISO 27001 and SOC 2.
  • — ElevenLabs processes audio data in a SOC 2-compliant environment with encryption at rest and in transit.
  • — We apply least-privilege access controls to our cloud infrastructure and monitor for suspicious activity.

No method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your device and Apple ID credentials.

9. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

9.1 Rights Under GDPR (EEA, UK, Switzerland)

  • Right of access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Right to rectification: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete personal data.
  • Right to erasure ("right to be forgotten"): Request deletion of your personal data, subject to legal retention obligations.
  • Right to restriction of processing: Request that we limit how we process your data in certain circumstances.
  • Right to data portability: Receive your data in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format and transmit it to another controller.
  • Right to object: Object to processing of your personal data based on legitimate interests.
  • Right to withdraw consent: Where processing is based on your consent, you may withdraw it at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.

9.2 Rights Under CCPA/CPRA (California)

  • Right to know: Request disclosure of the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you in the preceding 12 months.
  • Right to delete: Request deletion of personal information we have collected from you.
  • Right to correct: Request correction of inaccurate personal information.
  • Right to non-discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your CCPA rights.

We do not and will not sell or share your personal information (as those terms are defined in the CCPA). We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes other than those specified in the CCPA.

9.3 How to Exercise Your Rights

To exercise any of these rights, email us at support@hiretech.agency with the subject line "Data Rights Request." We may ask you to verify your identity before processing your request, for example by confirming recent app activity associated with your account or device. We will respond to your request within 30 days (or within the timeframe required by applicable law).

If you are in the EEA or UK and you believe we have not adequately addressed your concern, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

10. Analytics and Tracking

We do not track you. Specifically:

  • — We do not use any third-party analytics services (Google Analytics, Firebase Analytics, Mixpanel, Amplitude, or any equivalent).
  • — We do not use advertising identifiers (IDFA) or engage in cross-app or cross-website tracking for advertising purposes.
  • — We do not display third-party advertisements in the App.
  • — We do notserve the App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt because the App performs no tracking as defined by Apple's User Privacy and Data Use policy.

The only operational data we collect is anonymous, aggregated diagnostic data (crash logs, performance metrics) used exclusively for maintaining App stability and reliability.

11. Children's Privacy

VOQAS is not designed for or directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect, use, or disclose personal information from anyone under 13. If we learn that we have inadvertently collected personal data from a child under 13 without verified parental consent, we will delete that data promptly. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately at support@hiretech.agency.

If you are between 13 and 18 years of age (or the age of digital consent in your jurisdiction), you must have a parent or legal guardian review and consent to this Privacy Policy on your behalf before using the App.

12. International Data Transfers

Our service providers — ElevenLabs (United States), Google Cloud (various global locations, primarily United States and European Union), and RevenueCat (United States) — may process your data on servers located outside your country of residence. Where we transfer personal data from the EEA, UK, or Switzerland to a country without an adequacy decision, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as:

  • — Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the European Commission.
  • — The UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum, where applicable.
  • — Binding Corporate Rules or other lawful transfer mechanisms as recognized under applicable data protection law.

By using the App, you acknowledge that your data may be transferred, stored, and processed in countries outside your own. We take steps to ensure your data receives an adequate level of protection in accordance with this policy and applicable law.

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, the App's features, or applicable law. When we make changes, we will:
